ABOUT US

It takes a great team to tell a great story.

Great branding is a collaborative, interdisciplinary process. A beautiful poster design is useless if the colors can’t be reproduced by a printer. A moving story falls flat if it doesn’t have the right combination of actors, directors, cameramen and editors. Incredible game experiences are worthless if the code and hosting servers force users to wait for even a second to load.

That’s why it’s crucial to combine outstanding skills from different disciplines.

Executive Creative Director/Partner Tom Guttman brings big agency experience with Foot, Cone, & Belding, servicing national clients such as Nestles, Subway, Sunkist,  and Universal Studios Theme Parks.

Executive Creative Director/Partner Lon Shapiro’s experience is on the design side, having worked for an award-winning illustrator who created video and music packaging for Disney, Fox, Universal, Dream Works, and Capitol Records.

Together, we have the experience and vision to take on any project. And the connections to bring in outstanding partners as needed to create an unforgettable story.

We take pride in servicing big brands like Thrifty Ice Cream, Six Flags, and Warner Bros., as well as helping small companies trying to get shelf space in supermarkets. If you have a great story, we want to tell it.

We Never Stop Learning

Every client has a new story to tell. Every person is evolving as a consumer. Technological, cultural and political trends constantly reshape society. And our growth as human beings brings new perspectives which affect our creative process. The only thing that hasn’t changed after all these years is our passion to tell stories for companies of all sizes, in any industry.

Our Value Proposition

Guttman Shapiro Creative Group combines the best of the advertising/creative world with the highest standards in design and typography to form a branding team that can handle any client. We may be small, but we are nimble and turn things around on a dime. We do full media campaigns that include branding, packaging, ads, outdoor, TV & radio, and websites.

And we get the job done right the first time, on time, and on budget.

Meet the Team

Tom Guttman is known for reinventing the billboard with his legendary 1990 traffic-stopping ET billboard on I-95. His work for Universal Studios can be seen in the OBIE Hall of Fame. His awards include the Clio for Universal Studios and the Gold at the International Advertising Festival for the U.S. Forest Service. Tom’s passion for people and creative is limitless, which is why he will always be like a kid in the candy store when he works on your projects.

Lon Shapiro learned The Inner Game when he played tennis and coached professionally. Now, he uses it to enhance creativity.  Always focused in the now, Lon uses that coaching experience to learn about you, your target market and the technical specs of a project. Then he fields a team that delivers final deliverables that work properly in the real world, all while staying within budget. He wears many hats at work, but his UCLA beanie has a special place in his heart and on the slopes.

Kevin Shapiro, our in-house photographer and filmmaker speaks English, French, Spanish, and some Italian, and loves to learn new phrases in Mandarin, Portuguese, Japanese, and Russian. He’s adept imitating accents and celebrities, which has lead to projects as a voice over actor. His voice also extends to screenwriting. As a painter, he uses a wide range of media, including water color, acrylics, pencil, and air brush.

Stephan Shapiro loves gadgets and problem solving. Hanging out with him is like watching your own personalized episode of Myth Busters, as he will start to scribble away on a napkin to figure out a problem during dinner. He’s our go to guy when it comes to programming and troubleshooting anything and everything, as he is adept at HTML5, PHP, CSS, C++, Javascript, MYSQL and responsive web design.
